Year End Giving-For The Love

November 22, 2019

Dear Friend of Turning Point,

As we get closer to the end of 2019, I wanted to say thank you for your giving and generosity over this past year. Because of you, we have served so many people. Just this past week we had the privilege of giving a Thanksgiving meal to forty-nine families here in our community. How amazing was it to talk with families, serve them a meal and pray for them? Don’t you love it that we get to serve and point people to Jesus Christ in very tangible ways?

As I’ve been processing what God is calling us to do as a church this coming year, this phrase has been stirring in my heart. “We have more, so we do more and we give more.” Isn’t that the heart of the gospel message? John 3:16 says this, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son Jesus.” God gave us everything through his Son Jesus. Jesus also gave us everything and proved his love for us when he died for us on that cross. Think of all we have received from God! In turn, our mission as Christ-followers and as a church is to take the abundance of what God has given us and give it away.

With that in mind, we want to give each of you an opportunity to tangibly love and make a difference in the lives of others well into 2020 with what we are calling, “For The Love.” Jesus loved whom? He loved the Loney, Overwhelmed, Vulnerable and Empty. As Christ-followers, we too are called to love the same people Jesus loves by giving away our lives. “For The Love” is a year-end giving opportunity where we are stepping out in faith to raise $60,000 beyond our regular giving in the last six weeks of this year. Your generosity will help us as a church do more locally and globally to lead people to Christ.

Locally your generosity will help us come alongside ministry partners like “Better Together” and “New Horizons” in stronger ways. Both of these ministries are doing so much to serve at-risk children, heal families and provide the necessities of everyday life to those in need. Your giving will also help strengthen and take care of our staff team financially. I am so grateful to them, as they and their families have sacrificed so much in leading our church to reach people for Jesus.

Globally your generosity will help us come alongside Miguel and Karina Rojas as they continue to lead Iglesia de la Ciudad in Alajuelita, Costa Rica. Each week they are feeding hundreds of children and the homeless. They have created a sewing school that gives local women a skill and a job to provide for their families. Miguel and Karina are also bringing hope and healing in the name of Jesus to children and women who are escaping the horrors of sex trafficking.

I’m asking, with the deepest sincerity and humility, will you help us reach more people through this vision? Will you help us finish 2019 strong and blow past this goal? Will you prayerfully consider asking God what your part is? Imagine what could happen through you and through our church if all of us did more and gave more.

With gratitude,

Steve Gill, Lead Pastor
