Message Notes-First Things First

Here are the notes to Pastor Steve’s message for the one week series called, “First Things First” on Sunday, October 11th, 2020. Feel free to print them and follow along during the online message at 9:55 a.m on Facebook.

What are some of your firsts every day?

The Principle of First.  God is ______________ in all parts of our lives.

Then the Lord said to Moses, 2 Dedicate to me every firstborn among the Israelites. The first offspring to be born, of both humans and animals, belongs to me.”  11 “And it shall be, when the Lord brings you into the land of the Canaanites, as He swore to you and your fathers, and gives it to you, 12 you shall set apart to the Lord all that open the womb, that is, every firstborn that comes from an animal which you have; the males shall be the Lord’s. 13 But every firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb; and if you will not redeem it, then you shall break its neck. And all the firstborn of man among your sons you shall redeem.  Exodus 13:1-2, 11-13

Whenever you read the Old Testament think in these terms:

  • How does this point us to Jesus?

The Principles of First:

  1. The first born  ______________ the rest.

  2.  ______________ must be  ______________ to God first.

  • God gave us his first, so we give God our first.

  1. The tithe must be  ______________.

Honor the Lord with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase;  So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.  Proverbs 3:9-10 (NKJV)

The first of the firstfruits of your land you shall bring into the house of the Lord your God.  Exodus 23:19

Consistent Biblical teachings on the tithe:

  1. The tithe comes to the  ______________ of God.

  2. Tithing is about  ______________, not  ______________.

  • You don’t  ______________ what you don’t  ______________.

Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.  Malachi 3:8  (NKJV)

How do I live a “first things first” kind of life?

  1. I will trust God and start  ______________.

  2. I will continue to trust God and give  ______________.
