Home, home and home!
November 23, 2020
Dear Friend of Turning Point,
There is no doubt that 2020 has been one of the craziest years for all of us, however, I continue to believe this truth about God: “God works for the good in all things for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:23). In spite of what is happening in our world, God is working in your life, my life, and in the life of our church. In fact, one of the things God has been working behind the scenes for our church is a location for a new home. And guess what? After a lot of prayer, a lot of conversations, and a ton of work, we believe we have found the next place for Turning Point to call home.
Let that word sink in a bit. Home! When I think about having a church home I get so excited about seeing what God can do through us. Our church has always been a place where people can safely explore the truths of Christ, where they can be prepared to live out their faith, and where they can be sent into their world to make a difference for Christ. Even though the church is not a building but its people, having a place to call home will help us fulfill that mission more effectively. In addition, a new church home will help us raise the bar of excellence as we continue to digitally show up in the homes of people who now consider Turning Point Church to be their church family outside of Southwest Florida.
With that in mind, we want to give each of you an opportunity to tangibly love and make a difference in the lives of others into 2021 with what we are calling, “For The Love.” Throughout this initiative, we are asking the question, “Who did Jesus love?” He loved the Loney, Overwhelmed, Vulnerable and Empty. As Christ-followers, we too are called to love the same people Jesus loves by giving away our lives. “For The Love” is a year-end giving opportunity and this year we are stepping out in faith to raise $150,000 beyond our regular giving in the remaining weeks of 2020.
This year a part of your generosity will continue to help us partner with great local ministries like Pregnancy Resource Center, Better Together, and New Horizons. Your giving will also continue to help us globally as we partner with an amazing church, Iglesia de la Ciudad, in Alajuelita, Costa Rica. We will continue to partner with all of these great organizations who are pointing people to know and experience Jesus Christ.
But above all this year, your year-end giving will help us have a home! Your generosity will help us be that refuge, that place of preparation, and a digital church that has a far reach. Your generosity will help us add to and take care of our staff. Your giving will help us no longer have to set up and tear down each week. Who wants to cheer for that? Your giving will also give us a place of permanency which is so desperately needed for a greater impact right here in our community.
I’m asking, with the deepest sincerity and humility, will you help us reach more people through this vision? Will you prayerfully talk to God and respond to how he tells you to give? Will you help us love people in very tangible ways through your generosity? To learn how to give or to learn more about the details of this vision, please go to tpclive.org/forthelove.
For our church, I believe this is a significant step of faith. In fact, I believe this is our greatest step of faith since Turning Point began five years ago. It’s a step of faith that will define our church and its impact for years to come. What I want for us as a church is to have the faith that Jesus talked about. He said it this way, “Everything is possible for the one who believes” (Mark 9:23). Together let’s be that kind of church. Let’s go all in. Let’s not hold back. Let’s have no regrets.
With gratitude,
Steve Gill, Lead Pastor,
