Inviting Online-Best Practices
As we attempt to build an online community that is truly engaging with one another, here are some best practices that we believe will maximize our Sunday online experience for all of us.
1. As people who love the mission of Turning Point Church, it's really important for us to be inviting, commenting and fully engaging in each online experience. Why? Being the church is not just about watching church (consuming) but it’s about engaging and building community (contributing). As you engage and contribute, it’s a great example to others to do the same.
The “Share” button is a great way to invite people to our online service.
2. We are finding that the best way to get people to see what is happening on Sundays is to hit the share button and add in your own personal comments like; "you are invited," or "come join me at church online." Even tagging your friend’s names in your comments works great too! When you hit the share button (rather than having a watch party) all of your friends have the option to see the service, see all of the comments and can participate in the commenting. We have found that watch parties are great, but better after the live service is over.
3. Think multiplication. If the average person has 400 friends on FB and shares the service while it is live, (last week it was 22 shares) imagine the impact we could have online in connecting people with Jesus? I have heard stories from several of you how sharing the service has caused friends of yours, that have never gone to church, to actually watch an entire service. Wow!
4. When you share the service, don't use the word SHARE in your post. Share button-good! Using or typing the word share-bad! I'm guilty of that! I'm am learning from people that are much smarter and creative than I am, that using the word share negatively impacts Facebook's algorithms and could hinder our video from being seen more.
