Message Notes-God Break My Heart
Here are the notes to Pastor Steve’s message for week #3 of “Dangerous Prayers” on Sunday, August 16th, 2020. Feel free to print them and follow along during the online message at 9:55 a.m on Facebook.
Dangerous prayers we need to pray:
God, make me _______________!
God, _______________ to _______________.
God, _______________ my _______________.
18 “My heart is faint within me. 21 Since my people are crushed, I am crushed; I mourn, and horror grips me. Jeremiah 8:18, 21
In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 1 Peter 1:6-7
What if God’s greatest _______________ come from God’s greatest _______________?
Examples of God’s blessings through breakings:
Moses.
David.
Jesus.
Jerusalem, Jerusalem, killer of prophets, abuser of the messengers of God! How often I’ve longed to gather your children, gather your children like a hen, Her brood safe under her wings—but you refused and turned away! Luke 13:34 (MSG)
Something to ask yourself
What is something that breaks _______________, that breaks _______________?
You can find out what breaks your heart with these two questions:
What truly makes you _______________?
What makes you righteously _______________?
We put no confidence in human effort,4 though I could have confidence in my own effort if anyone could. Indeed, if others have reason for confidence in their own efforts, I have even more! 5 I was circumcised when I was eight days old. I am a pure-blooded citizen of Israel and a member of the tribe of Benjamin—a real Hebrew if there ever was one! I was a member of the Pharisees, who demand the strictest obedience to the Jewish law. 6 I was so zealous that I harshly persecuted the church. And as for righteousness, I obeyed the law without fault. 7 I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. 8 Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ. Philippians 3:3-8 (NLT)
With Christ as my witness, I speak with utter truthfulness. My conscience and the Holy Spirit confirm it. 2 My heart is filled with bitter sorrow and unending grief 3 for my people, my Jewish brothers and sisters. 3 I would be willing to be forever cursed—cut off from Christ!—if that would save them. Romans 9:1-3
What do you think?
It is better to _______________ with a divine purpose than to _______________ without a purpose.
