Message Notes-Better Unity

Today’s Key Idea:  Better Unity.  

Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.  Philippians 1:27 (NIV)

How well did your life reflect the gospel of Jesus Christ last year?  

  • Give yourself a report card grade.  (A-F)

Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, Philippians 2:2 (NLT)


Real Unity Happens When

  1. I _____________ on what matters _____________.  


Unchurched people are not looking for an echo of the culture, they’re seeking an alternative to it.  Carey Nieuwhof

Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, Philippians 2:2 (NLT)

Real Unity Happens When

2. I _____________ first before I _____________.  

  • Does this build up or tear down?  

  • Does this show love or not show love?  

  • Does this create unity or disunity?  

  • Is this worthy or unworthy of the gospel of Jesus Christ? 


Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.  Philippians 2:2 (NLT)

How do we work together with one mind purpose?  Consider the words of Jesus.  

  • “Follow me.”  Jesus 

  • “Those who love me will obey me.”  Jesus  

  • “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”  Jesus

  • “Go into all the world and make disciples.” Jesus  


Our church’s mission: “To help people experience a life changing relationship with Jesus.”

Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.  4 Each of you should not only look to your own interests but also to the interests of others.  Philippians 2:3-4 (NLT)  

Real Unity Happens When

Your attitude should be the same as Jesus Christ.  Philippians 2:5

Consider these questions at you look ahead to 2021

  • Which of these three is your strength?  

  • Which of these three needs your work?  

  1. I focus on what matters most.   

  2. I think first before I respond.  

  3. I give others the benefit of the doubt.
