A New adventure for the fosters

We wanted to share with our Turning Point family that Jonathan and Mellissa Foster have a great opportunity that God has opened up for them that will be taking them to Jacksonville. As we prepare to send them off well and anticipate God’s next person for Turning Point, here are some of the key details.

Q: Why are the Foster’s moving?

A: I (Pastor Steve) sat down with Jonathan and Mellissa this past week to listen to them about what God was doing in their hearts and lives. They have been processing the next step that God has for their family. As they were seeking God’s guidance, God opened up some great ministry opportunities for the both of them in the Jacksonville area.

Q: What will Jonathan and Mellissa be doing next?

A: As some of you know Mellissa works for a local nonprofit, Better Together;  which is one of our church ministry partners. Better Together is expanding into the Jacksonville area, and Mellissa has the opportunity to head up this expansion.  Jonathan will also be taking a new opportunity to work for a local church in Jacksonville in the creative arts department. In addition, the Fosters have family in the Jacksonville area and It sounds like a really great opportunity for them and their family!

Q: When will this take place?

A: This information is pretty new so we are working now on what that time frame may look like. We will be talking with both of them when it comes to what is the best timing for their family as well as what is the best timing for Turning Point Church in hiring our next staff person for our team.

Q: What happens in the meantime for Turning Point?

A: A couple of months ago I began to strategically ask Jonathan, “what can we do to help you since your role has grown into worship and digital ministry?” His role grew as a result of Covid and our churches needs. As we talked we began to look internally and externally to people who could join our staff team and bring strength to our church and work alongside him. Liz Ceto was part of that expansion of our staff and will step in as our Worship Director on an interim basis. We also have some local relationships that have agreed to help us on a part time basis with the creative and technical aspects of ministry.

Q: What’s the next step?

A: We will take a few days to communicate with our church and then begin the search process for who is next for Turning Point.

Q: What can we do as a church at this time?

A: Please pray for our church when it comes to the search process that God will give us wisdom and direction. Please also pray for Jonathan and Mellissa as they prepare to relocate. Pray for God’s blessing on them as they start this new chapter of life and ministry.

Thanks for taking a look,

Pastor Steve
