Today’s big idea.  

• God has the power to ___________.  

Divine healing involves a supernatural act which resolves a physical, emotional or spiritual problem. In a Christian context, the supernatural element is God, many times through the agency of the Holy Spirit.  GotQuetions.org

Foundational thoughts on healing:    

1.  Jesus ___________.  

• You can experience Jesus’ healing.  

Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.  24 News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed; and he healed them.  Matthew 4:23-24

Here’s the tension:  

• Why doens’t God heal everyone all of the time?  

Foundational thoughts on healing:    

1. Jesus healed.  

2. God’s healing is experienced ___________  ___________ now, and ___________ then. 

He “heals all your diseases” means that he will heal them in the age to come. He heals them often now. And when he doesn’t, they will get healing that is even better.”  John Piper 

I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.  19 For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.  20 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.  Romans 8:18-21

How do we experience his healing?  

1. We ___________ for it. 

2. We pray for it for ___________. 

Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up.  James 5:13-15

Today’s application:  

1. I’m recommitting to ___________ and ___________ for the healing of others.
