Love The 239-Here's How

Since we relaunched our church post-Covid back in February, this church has been nailing it when it comes to going out and reaching others.  Through opportunities like the parent’s luncheon, the Second Chances Job Fair, and our missions team heading out to Costa Rica, you have impacted so many lives. Church, you have done well!  I’m proud of you.

However, we are not done. We will never be done! On Sunday, May 30th we are doing what we are calling, “Love The 239.” This is a simple way to serve our community and love them in a very practical way. No strings attached. Here are some of the basic details of our first-ever, “Love The 239.”

Q: What will be doing during Love The 239?

A: Instead of having a regular worship service, we are going to go out and serve a hot meal to those in our community. It will give us a church to serve others in a very practical way and I hope it will give us a picture potentially of how many people in our community are not engaged in a local church.

Q: What can I do?

A: Just show up at the church on Sunday, May 30th a little before 10:00 a.m. and we will get you involved right away. We will need people to prep meals and load up meals. We will talk through how we will do this and in what neighborhoods before we leave.

Q: Who is this for?

A: Anyone who wants to serve. This is very much a family-friendly experience and a great opportunity to invite a friend to serve alongside you in the community.

Q: What if I live out of state but I am engaged with Turning Point Church?

A: You can serve too. Although you are not here in SWFL, God can use you as a part of our church right in your neighborhood and in your area code. Think about how you can serve your community at the same time we are serving our community on the same Sunday. We have put some ideas down below that could fit where you are in your area code.

Q: What’s next?

A: Sign up below so we can best plan on who will be serving and where to have you serve. Please include your kids in your sign-up as well. Also, please take a picture of you serving wherever you live and either tag Turning Point in your post or use the hashtag, #LoveThe239.

For those of you who do not live here in the 239, but are a part of our church, here is our challenge to you.  Love the people right where you are!  We are going to cook up hot dogs and serve bottled waters and hit the streets of our community.  However, maybe that’s not necessarily what works where you live? No worries, you can still serve and still make a HUGE difference.

Here are some simple ideas that may work better in your area code and neighborhood?

  • Bake some cookies and hand-deliver them to your neighbors. Maybe even take the time to have a brief conversation?

  • Prep some care baskets (snacks, granola bars, bottled waters, etc.) and deliver them to first responders in your area.

  • Stop by your local police and fire departments and offer them coffee and ask to pray with them as they serve your community.

  • Go to your local soccer field where games are going on Sunday morning and walk through the crowds of parents to give away bottled waters.

  • Deliver flowers with some notes of kindness to those who live in a retirement community and don’t get the opportunity to leave or have visitors very often.

  • How about some simple meal prep and delivery to people you know that are shut-ins or who could use some encouragement?

  • If you have a great idea you want to share with us on what you might do, email us and let us know.

As you serve, please take a picture of you serving wherever you live and either tag Turning Point in your post or use the hashtag, #LoveThe239.
