God Is Moving At Turning Point Church
We have been so excited to see God move in and through Turning Point Church this past summer through several outreach opportunities in our community. Here is a letter that Pastor Steve send out recently thanking those who have given this year as well as an opportunity for giving this fall. Take a look!
September 1, 2021
Dear Friend of Turning Point,
I sat down to write you this letter in early July, just as I normally do each year with your mid-year giving statement. Then, as you may know by now, my life was turned upside down with a Covid diagnosis, double pneumonia, hospitalization, and a slow recovery. That experience pretty much put everything on hold in my life, my family, and ministry; including reaching out to you. So, I’d like to pick back up, two months later, where I left off.
I’m grateful! I’m grateful for everything that God has done in my life recently and I’m grateful for all that He’s done and continues to do in the life of our church. Part of God’s work in this past year has happened because of you and your generosity. 2021, in my opinion, has been an incredible year of serving others here in SWFL and around the world. Here are just a few of the ways we were able to serve others this year through your giving.
We hosted our first “Second Chances Job’s Fair” where 17 people walked away with a job.
We gave over $4,500 to Iglesia de La Ciudad in Costa Rica. Our mission team also had the opportunity to serve meals to children, as well as paint, build and expand kid’s classrooms for the church.
In our first-ever, “Love The 239” outreach, we served over 500 meals to the Rosemary Community.
Through New Horizons we were able to give 46 kids a new pair of shoes, backpacks, and school supplies.
This year we have already given over $21,000 in local and global outreaches to serve others for Christ.
And let’s not forget, God has blessed us with a building this year so that we can use it as a sending place to go out and serve others in our community. It’s been incredible to have our own place!
Isn’t it amazing what God has already done through you? Thank you for your giving to this vision and mission!
As healthy as we have been, I will be fully transparent with you. During my time away from the church for recovery and with the recent spike in Coivd cases in our community, our giving has not been what it needs to be. We lost some ground in July and August in giving. Unfortunately, it has the potential to impact our ability to serve others in the long run. No one wants that. We all want to continue to do all that God has put in front of us to reach people for Christ. Yet, we also realize that only happens through the faithful giving of everyone who loves this church.
So, will you help us make up that ground and get back on track? I know that we can do it! Practically speaking, here is what that means. If you are a Jesus follower and you have not given in a while to Turning Point, I would ask you to get back in the game and give. If for some reason you have fallen behind in your normal giving, would you take the time to catch up, so we can catch up too? Or, If God leads you to give above and beyond what you normally give in this season, please give as God leads. I am simply asking each of us to step out in faith as we as a church continue to step out in faith to serve people in our community for Christ.
One of the truths that continue to echo in my heart and mind is that “God is working for the good.” Things have been tough in this world and in our own personal worlds recently. However, I believe God is still working! I have seen it repeatedly in our church this year and I still believe God has so much good he still wants to do through us.
Again, I am so grateful for you and for your giving this year! Thank you for what you have done and thank you in advance for what you will do. There is no way we could do any of this and reach people for Jesus without you!!!
The best is yet to come,
Steve Gill, Lead Pastor
