Watch Parties-Our Reconnecting Strategy
Watch parties are one of our next steps in reconnecting together as a church. We feel like it’s a good bridge between our digital church experience and our Sunday morning services in the building. In its simplest form, a watch party is a group of your friends getting together to watch, engage, and worship together on Sunday mornings.
Here are some common questions and answers in preparation for our next phase in reconnecting as a church.
Question: When do watch parties begin?
Answer: We are beginning Sunday, May 31.
Question: Who do I invite to a watch party?
Answer: Start with the people you are in relationship with and go from there. Wisdom also says that as we open up our culture again, you will need to use own discretion and utilize personal responsibility based on your comfort level, personal health issues, and local gathering guidelines.
Question: How do I start a watch party?
Answer: It’s as easy as inviting the people you are in relationship with.
Question: What should a watch party look like?
Answer: This will have some variation depending on those who is hosting but here are three key components. We recommend that you establish an arrival time, a wrap up time and that you’ll engage in the service together.
Question: What does engagement look like in an online church service with a watch party?
Answer: Our hope is that you’ll do more than “watch” the service. Again, the idea of engagement will most likely reflect the personality of your group. Some examples would be that you can worship out loud together, pray together, and even comment in the feed while the service is online.
Question: Is this a time for us to study together?
Answer: No, not really. The watch party is primarily a function of reconnecting and building community while our zoom groups go deeper into study.
Question: Will the online zoom groups still be happening?
Answer: Yes. The zoom groups give us the flexibility to connect with more people right in their own homes, go deeper into study, and provide an avenue of connection for those who may or may not be ready to meet in homes.
Question; I am newer to Turning Point Church and not really connected yet. How can I connect with a group of people in a watch party?
Answer: Reach out to us or digital connection card and we will make sure that we will connect you with one or two options to try and see if it fits.
Question: How long will watch parties go on for?
Answer: For the foreseeable future with our online church service. Watch parties will happen at least in June due to the school not re-opening.
Question: What is our next steps in reconnecting as a church beyond watch parties?
Answer: Our Executive Leadership Team and Church Staff continue to monitor and plan for our next phase of reengaging in a physical location, In addition, we will continue to take steps like these to help us reconnect until we as can re-launch into a physical location.
