Something we should all know:

  • A ________________ outlook never, ever leads to a ________________ life.

Optimism is not:

  1. A denial of ________________.

  2. ________________     ________________.

  • Optimism is simply confidence about the future or a successful outcome

  • Optimism is the unwavering expectation that our loving God is working every situation, for our future good.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.  Romans 8:28

  • What is one good thing God has done recently in your life?

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. Proverbs 23:7 (NKJV)

Take some time to think about what you think about.

  • What ________________ your thoughts?

To be more optimistic

  • You need to ________________ your faith and you need to ________________ the negativity.

For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature.  For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing.  Romans 7:18-19

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,  Romans 8:1

I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. Romans 8:18

  • Where are you hurting right now? What have you lost?

The bottom line is this:

  • The struggle that I’m having ________________, is producing the ________________ that I need for ________________.

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness.  Romans 8:26

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.  Romans 8:28

A negative outlook never ever leads to a positive life.

  1. What do I need to do to starve the negative in my life?

  2. What do I need to do to feed my faith?
