Save The Date, February 28th
Turning Point Family,
I wanted to communicate with each of you the upcoming plan in regards to our next steps as a church as the Foster's take their next step in following God's call to Jacksonville.
Jonathan and I have talked through these details below and I have sought counsel from our church board and overseers in putting this plan together. With that in mind, here are our next steps.
We will celebrate Jonathan and Mellissa and their family on Sunday, February 28th after church. That will be Jonathan’s last Sunday with us as part of our staff and we will pray with them and give our church an opportunity to celebrate them at the end of the service.
Why that date? A four-week transition for church ministry staff is pretty standard and we feel that extending this to a seven-week time frame is wise, helpful, and a blessing. This will give all of us the time to celebrate the Foster family and prepare our church for the next person God has to lead us in this arena.
In the meantime, Liz Ceto has agreed to step up during this time as our Worship Director on a part-time basis for the duration of this transition. That’s amazing-thanks Liz! She will plan worship sets, communicate with teams and lead the worship experience with Jonathan. I have asked her to begin this immediately to ensure a smooth transition.
Moving forward we will be hiring two positions; a worship director and a digital ministry director. Covid gave us a chance to expand our vision and rethink strategically on how to reach people. Jonathan and I began this conversation back in November and I asked him how I could bring additional staff on board to help take some responsibility off of his plate and grow this ministry. The concept of hiring a worship director and a digital ministry director came from those conversations we had as well as what I had with our board. That will be our strategy moving forward this year with two staff positions.
As we move forward, I would also ask you to pray. Pray for Jonathan and Mellissa as they begin a new chapter in their lives. Please also pray for wisdom as we have begun the search for the right people to join our staff team.
I am personally grateful for Jonathan, for his friendship and all that he has done for our church. He has helped us navigate through the weirdness of Covid and helped us take the first steps for digital ministry. All of that has helped us point people to Jesus Christ.
I’ll also personally miss the Foster family but I’m also excited for what God has in store for them and our church. Why excited? Because this is what I have come to know about God. “In all things, God works for the good of those who are in Christ Jesus.” That means that God is working and will produce good through this change. To me, that's exciting!
If you have any questions at all, please reach out to me personally. I’m more than happy to talk.
