Message Notes-Your Neighbors

Here are the notes to Pastor Steve’s message for week #1 of “Love Where You Live” on Sunday, March 21, 2021. Feel free to print them and follow along during the online message at 9:55 a.m on Facebook and YouTube.

Today’s Key Idea:  How do I love people where I __________________?

When the Pharisees heard that he (Jesus) had silenced the Sadducees, they came together. 35 And one of them, an expert in the law, asked a question to test him:  36 “Teacher, which command in the law is the greatest?”  37 He said to him, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. 38 This is the greatest and most important command.  39 The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. 40 All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands.”  Matthew 22:39-40

Two commands from Jesus.

  1. The Great __________________.  (Matthew 28:19-20)

    • “Go and make disciples.”

  2. The Great __________________.  Matthew 22:39-40

    • “Love God and love people.”

How do I love my neighbor?

  1. Understand The __________________ Principle.

Who is my neighbor?

  1. Your neighbor is someone who __________________ near you.

  2. Your neighbor is also someone who __________________ near you.

Love your neighbor as yourself.  Matthew 22:39

  • God has sovereignly __________________  __________________ among your actual neighbors.

“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. 25 And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.  Acts 17:24-26

From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places (that’s a location) where they should live.  Acts 17:24-26

How do I love my neighbor?

2.  I must live out the __________________ principle.

“Love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:39

  • What part of my day revolves around my neighbors?

  • How can I care for a need in my neighbor’s life?

Do nothing from rivalry or conceit but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests but also to the interests of others.  Philippians 2:3-4

Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up  Romans 15:2

  • The bottom line is this.  God is calling you to invest in your neighbors.

Here is my ask of each of you.

  • Will you show kindness to your neighbors?
