Message Notes-Easter Sunday

Here are the notes to Pastor Steve’s Easter message on Sunday, April 4, 2021. Feel free to print them and follow along during the in person or online message at 9:55 a.m on Facebook and YouTube.

Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance.  2 So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!” 3 So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb. 4 Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. 5 He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in. 6 Then Simon Peter came along behind him and went straight into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there, 7 as well as the cloth that had been wrapped around Jesus’ head. The cloth was still lying in its place, separate from the linen. 8 Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside.  John 20:1-8

What is perspective?

  • The capacity to view things in their true relations or relative importance.

How does Easter change our perspectives?

  1. The _______________ gives us perspective on the depth of _______________  _______________ for us.

Verses that give us a picture of Christ’s love for us.

  • Greater love hath no man than he lay down his life for his brother.  John 15:13

  • Jesus said, “It is finished.”  John 19:30

  • “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.”  Luke 23:46

The cross brings into focus the _______________ and the _______________ of love that God has for us.

  • _______________ else has loved you like that?

  • _______________ else has loved you like that?

“It is insanity to run from God and search for love.”Erwin McManus

How does Easter change our perspectives?

Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed.  John 20:8

“Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”  John 20:29

“Because of his resurrection, we will no longer question his ability to bring good out of the worst of circumstances and justice out of the greatest injustices.”  Larry Osborne

“Jesus’ death wasn’t to free us from dying but to free us from the fear of death. Jesus came to liberate us so that we could die upfront and then live. Jesus Christ wants to take us to places where only dead men and women can go.” Erwin McManus

Two questions you need to wrestle with today:
